April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born July 4th in 1995. In the seventh grade, she started taking piano and guitar lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm to write songs. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote when she was 12 years old. The year she turned 14 was when she spent a lot of her time making song lyrics and working on her musical skills. Soon, April began going in NY and LA together with her father so that they could both write songs. April added other themes to the track "Take My Hand" for some of acquaintances who faced issues such as peer pressurization disabilities, and even teenage suicide. Lockhart has her own following and works as a lifestyle blogger at the popular Ilia clean beauty brand. She was born without her left hand and that is part of who she is--but this isn't the whole truth. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on Instagram, but she isn't making it the focal point of the post. What message is it sending? The message? That we each contain multitudes, that our identity and physical bodies aren't what they appear. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance should define me. My goal is not to be an influencer on disability because I have so much more to offer." This doesn't influence my day-to-day activities. I go about doing my job as normal and have come up with my own methods to adjust. Because it's my identity, it's something that's worth talking about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration for this aspect. However, she acknowledges going through phases with her body at times being unsure about wearing particular types of clothes showing the arms of her. She is able to wear anything she likes, and is proud to share photos of herself dressed in her favorite outfits. It's a journey is the most important thing. I'm not sure if will ever be the end about self-love. This is true for everyone, regardless of how much they are afraid. It's important to have people around you who are aware of and appreciate you. They will be the ones to ask your: What are you worry about?
