Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for the Olympic contest. Bela Karrolyi who was the Romanian gymnastics instructor who became Comaneci's coach in later years she discovered her when she was six. First competing in the junior national championships of Romania in 1969 she placed 13th. In 1970, she won. Three gold medals were awarded in her very first contest at a junior Olympic meet in 1972, which was a the communist bloc nations. The following year, 1973 as well as 1974, she became the junior champion in all-round competitions. She won four gold and one silver in her first international competition for seniors which took place in the year 1975. It was the first time she had competed as a senior. She was the first woman to do the reverse double salo of the uneven parallel bar after winning the American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was in her teens she was performing on touring shows like Ice Capades as a skater together with her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6, 1942, at Chicago Illinois US. Carol was a part of the entertainment business in her teens. Early on she was a figure skater in traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. It featured dramatic ice-skating shows.
